Coming to LNCMI Grenoble

LNCMI-Grenoble is located on the CNRS Presqu’île campus. The entrance to the campus is on rue Jules Horowitz (see detailed campus map here). Access to the site is subject to verification of identity documents.

► By Plane :
– From Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport: You can take one of the regular Flixbus or Blablacar shuttles (approx. 1-hour journey).
Choose the Grenoble-Oxford stop for access to the LNCMI or the Grenoble stop for access to the Grenoble train station in the city center.
– From Geneva-Cointrin airport: You can take the train to Grenoble (approx. 2-3 hours’ journey), or take the regular Flixbus shuttle bus (approx. 2 hours’ journey).

► By train:
From Paris, you can take the TGV direct from Gare de Lyon to Grenoble (approx. 3-hour journey). Alternatively, you can travel via Lyon (Part Dieu station), from where you can take a TER train to Grenoble.

► By streetcar:
From Grenoble train station, take the streetcar: line B, direction “Oxford”, get off at the terminus.
Good to know: tickets can be bought and stamped at the kiosks located at streetcar stops.

► By car:
– From the A43 freeway coming from Lyon/Paris/Marseille, as you approach Grenoble (i.e. around 15 km after the Voreppe toll booth), follow the A48 towards Grenoble, then “Grenoble Bastille / Grenoble Gares”. Take exit no. 16, direction “Grenoble-Gares / Europole / Polygone Scientifique”.
After the Oxford Bridge, go around the Place de la Résistance and turn right onto Rue Jules Horowitz. Take the first left to reach the entrance to the CNRS campus.

– From freeway A 41/E Autoroute 712 coming from Chambéry/Geneva/Turin, on approaching Grenoble follow signs for “Lyon”, then “Rocade sud”, then take freeway A 480 towards Lyon and exit at junction 1 “Sassenage/Fontaine”. At the traffic circle, take the 1st exit onto Avenue des Martyrs and continue for 1.3 kilometers. Turn right onto rue Jules Horowitz. Take the first left to reach the entrance to the CNRS campus.

On arrival at LNCMI-G

When you arrive, please report as soon as possible to the administration office : Building T, 2nd floor, offices T316, T317 or T301.

Opening hours : Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Health and safety at LNCMI-G

Access to the laboratory is forbidden to wearers of active implants and pacemakers that are not compatible with magnetic fields. Pregnant women must inform us before coming.

  • Visiting groups : Download the LNCMI-G visit safety instructions form. Read the instructions carefully before coming to the laboratory for your experiment. Sign the document and give it to your local LNCMI correspondent before coming to the unit.

  • New arrivals: When you arrive at LNCMI, you will receive a link on your professional e-mail address to a safety training course with two theory parts and a test. This training is compulsory and must be taken as soon as you arrive on site. At the end of the training, you will meet one of the laboratory’s prevention assistants.
  • Users : Please download the LNCMI-G safety rules. Read the instructions carefully before coming to the laboratory for your experiment. Anyone involved in an experiment must sign the health and safety awareness certificate and return it to the laboratory administration prior to their stay in the unit.

Catering at LNCMI-G

There are several catering options on site: administrative restaurant (lunchtime and access card holders only), fast food and nearby restaurants on Avenue des Martyrs: see here

The laboratory has a dining room equipped with fridge and microwave.
