History

Before the Laboratoire National des Champs Magnétiques Intenses, both sites in Grenoble and Toulouse were independant entities of the CNRS, in partnership with universities. It is only in 2009 that the former Laboratoire National des Champs Magnétiques Pulsés in Toulouse and the Grenoble High Magnetic Field Laboratory merged to gather pulsed and static fields under one structure, the LNCMI. Both facilities, unique in France, are led by one director and exchange their scientific and technical knowledge and skills.
